![]() Whale & Dolphinby Rita Foelker Puppets: Whale and Dolphin. Additional materials: Blue transparent plastic or paper, that seems like water; pictures representing sea animals; photography of many people (maybe, in the edge of a pond and looking to the fishes…). Sound suggestions: CD with whales, dolphins and other ocean sounds. (Whale swims. Then, she lies down with her belly up and starts to talk to Dolphin.) Whale: Hey, Dolphin! Are you there? Can you hear me? Dolphin: Yes, dear. You can talk... (Dolphin come near and pay attention to Whale.) Whale: I was here, just reflecting... Dolphin: Reflecting, how? Looking yourself at the water mirror? Whale: No, Dolphin. Reflecting also means thinking, learning with things we see or we live. Dolphin: What were you reflecting about? Whale: During thousands of years, the whales settled in the oceans. The ocean had always been a beautiful silent place, where the sunlight was filtrate by the water layer. (Use the blue transparent plastic or paper to make waves behind Whale and Dolphin.) Dolphin: Great news! (Ironical.) Whale: Anciently, the beaches were places where sea turtles hide their eggs, where we could find crabs and mollusks, the life was calm. That's what my mom tell me… (Use pictures of sea animals passing across the background.) Dolphin: Yep. So, what is there to think so much about? Whale: (Turning round to Dolphin.) Don't you understand? Just perceive how things changed! Dolphin: In the first place, I don't live in the ocean. I live in a tank. Whale: So... that's it! Don't you see this is a big change already? Times ago, you'd live in the sea… Dolphin: (Pensive.) You're right. I have never thought such a thing! Whale: Nowadays, we live in tanks. Instead of hunting food, these beings called "humans" feed us. (Peoples' picture passing across the background.) And they like to see us making tricks. We get ourselves into actors and acrobats, Dolphin! Dolphin: What does "being an actor" mean? Whale: Acting to people who watch us. Passing a message on, through a character we interpret. Dolphin: Things always have to change, Whale? Whale: Things change because people always think something new and have new ideas. Several of these ideas turn things to better, if they are good ideas and bring good feelings. (Picture showing this.) Other ones change to worse, if people use their intelligences to disrespect and destroy. (Picture showing this.) Dolphin: And is there anything we can do, as actors, to change the world to better? Whale: I believe so. Interpreting roles that inspire love and faith to "humans", who have the most power to act on planet's future. (Pictures showing this.) (Everyone hear a song and a voice that announces the Whale & Dolphin's Show.) Dolphin: So .. right away! It's show time! Let's show our joy, take hope and tenderness to the hearts! (Dolphin and Whale swim fastly out the scenery. After getting applauses, they come back to thank the audience.) Boynton Bch, November 15th, 2004 |
