A first day activity

Age: 4 to 7

What we will need

  • Big paper sheets ("A1" size)
  • Colored pencils and crayons
  • Adhesive tape

What we gonna do

  1. Tell everybody in class that everyone will earn a portrait.
  2. Fix on the wall a big paper sheet with the same size of the children.
  3. Put a child next to the paper sheet and draw her/his shape with a pencil.
  4. Ask everyone to say how is her/his hair, face, if she/he wears glasses.
  5. During the activity, repeat the name of that child every time to make everyone save it.
  6. Make everyone's portrait. At last, ask someone to draw your shape repeating the observation process making sure that the children get to know you too.
  7. Fix all the portraits on the wall and congratulate the children.
  8. On the next days, right on the entry, ask everybody who is which one of the sketches and if she/he is there with them. If so, the child gets hands clapping. Leave the sketches on the wall for a while. It is important to little children that their productions stay there until they fell like making part of a group and a place.
