Greetings' Game

Age: All ages

Purpose: Making adaptation easy, arousing affection and spontaneity. Having an initial activity to promote an approaching between friends, or between them and the new teachers in the first day meeting of the year.

What we gonna do

  1. Ask everybody to stand up and walk around the room. Tell them that you are going to make a sign (hand clapping or blowing the whistle) and when they heard it, each one will stop in front of a friend, look at each other, and give a wave. If someone could not find a partner to do so, she or he will sit down in the ground.
  2. The game begins again. Everybody walk around the room, nobody leaves this game. But now the rule changes: when they hear the sign, everybody will stop in front of two persons (none of them can be the one from the former step), look at each other and ask their names. Again, if someone could not find a partner to do so, she or he will sit down in the ground.
  3. Now we are going to stop and hold hands with three persons. None of them can be the one from the former step.
  4. After that, we are going to give a big hug in four persons...
  5. To bring the game to an end, everybody will greet the students who they did not greet before and go back to their places.
